History Of Jesus On Earth
Calvary mound of stone whose sides had been carried away. From a certain angle it appeared like a skull. For the Romans, it was an ideal sport to exhibit the result of crime and insurrection. For the Jews, it was place of death, to be avoided, lest they become “unclean “For three hours it became the dais upon which was erected the throne of the King of Kings. Ever since it has been venerated as the spot where the Earth and the Heaven were joined together. Here is fulfilled the plan of universe, and the purpose of history. I come that they may have life, and have it abundantly. I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep: John 10:10-11They crucified him to a cross. He could do absolutely nothing now; they had wasted Him, or so they thought He had other ideas; “Now is the judgement of the world, now shall the rulers of this world be cast out…”He bowed His head and said: “It is finished” They thought it was all over. He would not bother them again. From that sacred moment to this, the world has never been the same. He is still thirsty, not for cheap wine, but for us. He still gives up His spirit, but not in death. He hands over the spirit that we might have life, and have it to the full.
